Bessie Lee Wilson Sowder

Bessie Lee Wilson Sowder, 93, of Falmouth, KY, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the Grant Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Williamstown. Born in Tennessee on September 8, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. and Ruby Frady Wilson. On May 18, 1946, she married Rev. James Allen Sowder, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 brother, John V. Wilson and 1 sister, Naomi Dixon. Formerly, she worked as a clerk for J C Penney. Bessie was a homemaker and a member of the Turner Ridge Baptist Church, Pendleton County. She is survived by three sons: Jim (Sandy) Sowder of Forest Park, OH, Jerry (Vicki) Sowder of Walton, KY, and Terry (Joy) Sowder of Falmouth, KY; 4 grandchildren: Tammy Corder, Michael Sowder, Brent Sowder and Brian (Janice) Sowder; 1 great granddaughter, Ashlynn Corder; 1 sister, Gaila Edwards of Davenport, IA; 1 brother, Powell Wilson of Roanoke, VA; and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Turner Ridge Baptist Church, 60 McGraw Road, Falmouth, KY 41040 with Bro. Dale Beighle officiating. The visitations will be on Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 4-8:00 p.m. at Woodhead Funeral Home, 310 W. Shelby Street, Falmouth, KY 41040 and from 10-11:00 a.m. on Friday at her church preceding the service. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, 300 Clear Creek Road, Pineville, KY 40977 or the Turner Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 60 McGraw Road, Falmouth, KY 41040.
