Effie Chambers, 86, of Berry, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Grant Manor Nursing Home in Williamstown. Born on July 21, 1922, in Wolfe County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rosa Bell Deaton. She married Curtis Chambers, Sr. on September 26, 1936, and her dear husband preceded her in death on October 1, 1998. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Pentecostal Church of God, Lee County, Kentucky. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, three sisters: Viola, Mae and Irena, and two brothers: James and Eugene. She is survived by her daughters: Viola Beckett of Falmouth, Geneva Hamilton of Falmouth, Connie Deitz, Carolyn Traylor, and Charolette Chambers, all of Corinth; Her sons: James Chambers and Joe Chambers, both of Berry and Curtis Chambers, Jr. of Cynthiana: 14 grandchildren: Rose Mary, Bernice, Ricky, Phyllis, James Thomas, Kim, Donna Gayle, Brian, Sammy Joe, Sandy, David Wayne, Doug, Travis, and Jenny; 22 great grandchildren: Chad, Felicia Gayle, Sam, Ashley, Justin, Brynn, Jason, William, Jeremy Todd, Cara, Isaac, Sydney, Keith, Ben, Cassandra, John Curtis, Eli, Maddie Grace, Nathan, Mercedes, Dustin, and Austin; 2 step great grandchildren: Alisha and Jonathan; 6 great great grandchildren: Blake, Dylan, Noah, Katlyn, Gabriel, and Desiree; and 2 sisters: Marietta Deaton of Lexington and Josephine Whalley of Robertsdale, Alabama; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, with Bro. Benny Northcutt officiating. The visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.
