Eldon W. Mains

March 9, 1920 - February 26, 2008

Eldon W. Mains, 87, of Falmouth, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. Born on March 9, 1920 in Pendleton County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Jim Willie and Bessie Hall Mains. He married Ardella Anderson Mains on June 24, 1944, and his dear wife survives his passing. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Oakland Christian Church, Pendleton County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Cahill on August 12, 1989; and four sisters: Hazel Jacob, Mabel Ryan, Clara Mattox, and Ava Lou Gulick. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Ardella Mains, he is survived by his son, Bobby Mains of Alexandria, Kentucky; two daughters: Joyce Carson of Falmouth, Kentucky and Hazel Messmer of Butler, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 3 step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. John Byard officiating. Special music will be shared by Adarin Williams. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Piercefield, Nathan Fields, Jack Fields, Todd Messmer, Jacob Messmer, Chris Carson, and Alex Carson. The honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Carson, Tony Messmer, Steve LaFollette, Henry Bertram, Lloyd Bockerstette, Rick Bockerstette, Tom LaFollette, Bill Cahill, and Edwin Hall. The visitation will be on Friday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Kentucky 41056.
