Marlene J. (Northup) Nybo

October 3, 1938 - November 15, 2020

Marlene J. Nybo, 82, of Erlanger, KY, formerly of Shawano, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at the Village Care Center in Erlanger. Born on October 3, 1938 in Fargo, ND, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Blanche (Kopperud) Northup. After graduating from high school, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of WI-River Falls and a Master’s Degree at the University of WI-Oshkosh. On August 4, 1961 Marlene married Charles R. Nybo in St. Paul, MN, and her dear husband of 52 years preceded her in death on February 4, 2014. In 1966 she and her husband moved to the Shawano area where Marlene became the librarian at Olga Brenner Elementary School in Shawano, until retiring in 1998. Upon retirement, she became a member of the Shawano County Area Retired Teachers Association (SCARTA). Marlene was also a member of the Gideon Auxiliary and an active member of the Shawano Assembly of God Church, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed reading and volunteering at Olga Brenner and at the Maple Lane Health Care Center. Marlene is survived by her son, Mark (Kathryn) Nybo of Crescent Springs, KY; her daughter, Kari (John) DeClark of Niagara, WI; 4 grandchildren: Luke Nybo, John Nybo, Danielle Wagner, and Brad (Brenda) DeClark; 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lou (Curt) Petersen of Alden, MN; and one brother, Ricky Renstrom of St. Paul, MN. Visitation will be on Friday 11-20-2020 at the Swedburg Funeral Home from 5-7 PM 518 W 5th Street Shawano, Wi 54166 A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday morning, November 21, 2020. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Memorials are suggested to The Gideons International.
