Raymond Nathan “Pappy” Crawford, 97, of Berry, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. Born on February 16, 1912 in Harrison County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William “Willie” and Iva Belle Mowsey Crawford. He was a well-known Harrison County farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. His distinguished service includes two Purple Hearts, 3 Bronze Stars earned in Asiatic-Pacific duty, 1 Bronze Star earned in conjunction with the Phillipine Liberation; and the Victory Medal. He was a member of the Robinson Christian Church, Harrison County, the Berry Lions Club, and the VFW of Frankfort, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by this wife of 68 years, Evelyn Crawford on July 27, 1999; his son, William Lynn Crawford on February 8, 2009, and his great granddaughter, Stacy Todd Northcutt on June 30, 2001. . He is survived by his wife, Betty A. King, his daughter: Iva Belle Simpson of Lexington, Kentucky; his stepdaughter, Capt. Pattie King Jackson, USAF, of Iowa Park, Texas; his stepson, Allen Ray King of Berry, Kentucky; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Berry, Kentucky with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. The visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry. Memorials are suggested to the Berry Lions Club, P.O.
