Wilson Elmo Flynn

November 2, 1930 - July 16, 2017

Wilson Elmo Flynn, 86, of Florence, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at home under the care of his loving family and the Hospice of Bluegrass. Born on November 2, 1930 in Neave, KY, he was the son of John Riley and Nettie Mae (Moore) Flynn, who preceded him in death. Elmo will always be remembered for his witty humor and love of UK Basketball and The Andy Griffith Show. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Lab Manager at US INK in Woodlawn, OH, and a long time member at the Erlanger Church of Christ in Erlanger, KY, where he also served as an elder. Elmo was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Iona Christine Flynn. He is survived by his daughters: Shirley (Pete) Kekel of Erlanger, KY and Judy (Timothy) Blust of North College Hill, OH; sons: Michael (Patti) Flynn of DeMossville, KY, Ricky (Sara) Flynn of Hebron, KY, Donald (Donna) Flynn of Taylor Mill, KY, and Ronald (LeAnn) Flynn of Latonia, KY; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Elmo was the youngest of 7 children. He was preceded in death by brothers: Thomas Flynn, Estel Flynn, Udell Flynn, and twin brother Raymond Flynn; sisters: Nita King and Margaret Fannin; grandson: Kenneth Bucher; great-granddaughter: Emily Pflueger. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 1:00 P.M at the Erlanger Church of Christ with Dr. Mike Shannon officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Highland Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 11-1:00 P.M. at the church. Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth is serving the family.
