Shane Hammons Selected to Participate in National Meet the Mentors Program

Local Funeral Director Participates In National Mentoring Program

Shane Hammons of Woodhead Funeral Homes and Memorials was one of 50 funeral directors nationwide selected to participate in the National Funeral Directors Association’s (NFDA) Meet the Mentors program. Meet the Mentors is supported by the Funeral Service Foundation.

Meet the Mentors, which took place March 16-18 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, Ga., brought young funeral professionals together to learn from four of the country’s leading funeral directors and network with like-minded peers. During the program, each mentor gave a presentation in which they shared lessons they have learned about how to build a successful and fulfilling career in funeral service. After the presentations, there was a panel discussion followed by small group discussions with each mentor.

Shane Hammons is a licensed embalmer and funeral director with Woodhead Funeral Homes in Falmouth and Berry, where he has worked for 12 years.  He and his wife, Ashley Salerno Hammons, live in Butler, with their two children, Charlie and Ellie. He is a deacon at the Falmouth Baptist Church. “ I am honored to have been chosen for this program. Having the opportunity to speak with the country’s leading funeral directors, one on one, allowed me to better myself and the funeral home into the future. The relationships I gained from other funeral directors across the country will be a valuable resource for me, both personally and professionally.”

“We are thrilled that Shane Hammons was selected for this honor.  Shane is a knowledgeable, creative funeral director who is always interested in learning about new ways to help and serve families.  He has already shared new ideas which we plan to implement, “ states Mary Hillenmeyer of Woodhead Funeral Homes.
