Larry Allen Winkle

Larry Allen Winkle, 65, of Falmouth, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at his home. Born on December 26, 1957, he was a son of the late Lester and Pauline Newton Hill Winkle. On January 27, 1979, he married Marie Williams Winkle, and they were blessed with two children and four grandchildren, all of whom were his greatest accomplishments. All of his life, Larry (also known as “Enos”) worked as a trusted mechanic, first with Henry Bertram at Bertram’s Service Station in Falmouth for 20 years, where he, Henry, and the late Larry Moore worked tirelessly to fix anything and everything that arrived at the garage. After the flood of 1997, he worked for Hammer Strength, Shields Auto Body, and later with JayGee Manufacturing for 15 years prior to retirement. Known for his quick-wit and mischievous nature, Larry always had something to say or share, and chances are it would be memorable. Whether he was rolling out from under a car at the garage, attending a school function with Marie and his family, or stopping at the grocery after a long day of work, he found time to “catch up” with everyone for a few minutes, always interested in others and ready to lend a helping hand. At home, Larry was usually in the company of at least one of his furry friends, and he loved to garden and fish, listen to all types of music, and collect scale cars and everything John Deere. His daughter Krista Winkle preceded him in death on June 18, 2019, and his brother Glenn Earl Winkle on March 22, 1996. In addition to his wife of 44 years, Marie, he is survived by his son, Brandon (Jessica) Winkle of Falmouth; four grandchildren: Dakota Glen Winkle, Caden Lee Allen Winkle, Addison Rayne Winkle, and Amelia Marie Winkle; one brother, Terry (Andrea) Winkle of Westfield, IN; mother-in-law, Rosa Whalen; three sisters-in-law: Janie Nunnelley, Rhoda (Gilbert) Crump, and Sheri (Joey) Franklin; brother-in-law, James Williams, Jr.; four nieces, six nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Jason Anderson officiating and a special remembrance by Henry Bertram. The visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.
