Gloria Frances Brokamp DeWald

Gloria Frances DeWald, 91, of Demossville, KY, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the youngest of 4 daughters born to Lawrence & Elizabeth Neuhaus Brokamp, on December 25, 1933, in Cincinnati, OH. She attended St. Catherine Grade School and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Oldenburg, IN. She worked as a clerk at Cincinnati Bell before marrying Paul DeWald and together raising their 6 children on their farm in Pendleton County. She always considered being a mother and full-time homemaker her greatest blessing and honor. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, gardening, farming & reading. When her kids were grown, she entered back into the workforce as a Physical Therapist Aid at Booth Hospital, where she met her dear friend Linda Miller, who became her travel companion and running partner. She also worked as a cook for Housing Opportunities of NKY (HONK). She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren at birthday parties, ball games, play productions and school activities. She is survived by her 6 children: Ronald DeWald Coleman of Lexington, Phillip (Nancy) DeWald and Marty (Jenny) DeWald of Demossville, Charles DeWald of Ft. Thomas, Teresa (Rodney) Barnes of Alexandria, Shelly Cobb of Cold Spring. 13 grandchildren: Corey DeWald, Rachel DeWald, Megan (Kyle) Wood, Max (Megan) DeWald, Mike (Hailey) DeWald, Jacob DeWald, Nick (Taylor) DeWald, Maria DeWald, Christie Prince, Angela Barnes, Ashley (Michael) Gosney, Jacob McClurg, Josh (Julia) McClurg. 20 great-grandchildren: Willow, Whitley, Warrick & Wiley Wood, Charlie DeWald, Jayla, Rosslyn, Paisley & Ariyah Young, Samuel MacEntire, Emerson Barnes Janszen, Kylie Smith, Addilyn Barnes, Malia, Alayna & Makenna Gosney, Graham, Henry, Noah & James McClurg. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Sr. Marilyn Brokamp, OSF, Sr. Marlene Brokamp, OSF, Janet (Jim) Macht, her grandson Rodney Barnes, Jr., her son-in-law Ronnie Cobb and daughter-in-law Susan Koeninger DeWald. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Church, 202 Second Street, Falmouth, KY 41040, with Rev. Benton M. Clift, Sr. and Rev. Britton Hennessey officiating. The visitation will be from 10:30 -12 noon on Friday at the church preceding the mass. Interment will take place in the St. John Cemetery, Dividing Ridge.
