Martha Lou Budde-Thompson

Martha Lou Budde-Thompson, 72, of Southgate, formerly of Falmouth, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the home of her sister and caregiver Beverly Powell in Falmouth. Born on March 29, 1953, in Ft. Thomas, KY, Martha was a daughter of the late Richard “Dick” Budde and Louise Field Budde. Martha was a free spirit; she was a faithful companion on the journeys of her family and friends, with unconditional love and support in all of its forms. She championed her son Kevin for the 36 years he blessed her life, attending every one of his softball games, and her heart just grew bigger when Kevin and his wife Joan gifted her with two grandchildren, whom she adored. Martha (or “Cereal” as she was named) devoted herself to her grandchildren, always present at every game, performance, or event in their lives. Martha was a loyal sister and friend to many, with whom she made lasting memories. She gave a home to many a rescue from the Kenton County Animal Shelter, with her favorites being Mojo and Mia. She worked at the former Dr. Scholl’s Shoe Factory and later at U.S. Shoe as an office clerk for over 20 years, where her 6 ½ inch shoe size earned her the opportunity to model shoes at promotional events, including an engagement at King’s Island. Martha earned her Associate Degree as a medical transcriptionist and worked for Tri- Health for over 20 years in her second career. Surviving to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Tristan Richard Thompson and Lindsay Clara Thompson; her daughter-in-law Joan Thompson; her sister Beverly (Jack) Powell; her nieces: Tracie, Amanda (Jeremy), and Megan; her great nieces: Hailie, Mya, and Peyton; and a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 10-12 noon on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with funeral services following at 12 noon and Kevin Barnard officiating. Music will be shared by Michael and Timmy Cummins. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
