Robert V Bates

Robert V. Bates, 84, of Williamstown, KY, formerly of Harrison County, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his home. Born on May 16, 1939, he was a son of the late Vernie and Fannie Patton Bates. On May 26, 1962 he married Lois Ramsey Adams and she survives his passing. He was a veteran of the United States Army, the former co-owner of Bob and Lois Diner in Corinth, and worked at Philips Driscopipe in Williamstown as the shipping manager for many years. He joined the Hinton United Methodist Church in 1946 and remained a faithful member until his health no longer allowed. He was the church treasurer and board member for many years and loved the church and it’s people faithfully. He was a big fan of the UK Wildcats and any team his grandkids were playing for. His number one job in life was to be a faithful and devoted Husband, Dad, and Papaw. In addition to his wife Lois, he is survived by a daughter, Jean (Larry) Hammons of Williamstown, KY, 2 brothers; Kenny (Barb) Bates, Wally (Carolyn) Bates, 3 grandchildren; Jill Hubble, Shane (Ashley) Hammons, Robert L. (Michelle) Bates II, 9 great grandchildren; Tyler Porter. Tristan Porter, Jake Porter, Aubrey Bates, Marleigh Bates, Austin King, Charlie Hammons, Ellie Hammons, Grant Hammons, a great great granddaughter; Penelope Rose Porter, and his daughter in law, Patti Bates. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert L. Bates, a granddaughter; Jennifer Woolums, and 3 siblings; Joe Bates, Charlie Bates, and Helen Kersey. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hinton United Methodist Church in Harrison County with Bro. Dan Ritchie and Shane Hammons officiating. Pallbarers for the service will be Robby Bates, Austin King, Tyler Porter, Tristan Porter, Jake Porter, Charlie Hammons, Larry Hammons, and Shane Hammons. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ellie Hammons, Grant Hammons, Aubrey Bates and Marleigh Bates. Burial with full military honors will take place in the Raven Creek Cemetery. The visitation will be 11-1:00 preceding the service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hinton United Methodist Church: 238 Corinth Hinton Rd, Sadieville, KY 40370
