Imogene Haley Jacob, better known as “The Pie Lady”, 97, of Falmouth, KY, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 1, 2016. Born on November 13, 1918 in Bracken County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Ella Galbraith Haley. She was the valedictorian of the Brooksville High School Class of 1937 and a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church. On December 10, 1960, she married George Henry Jacob, and her dear husband preceded her in death on December 8, 2000, after 39 years of marriage. From 1968-1990, she and her late husband, owned and operated the former Stop & Tell Restaurant and the former Fisher’s Motel, at the intersection of Shelby Street and U.S. 27 in Falmouth. Well-known for her baking, Imogene made pies for their restaurant and for countless church and community events. Her pies were the first desserts selected at any gathering lucky enough to receive one. Previously, she had owned and operated the Small Fry Restaurant in Falmouth and worked at Spare Time Grill in Alexandria and the Pendleton High School Cafeteria before she bought and operated Herb & Lou’s Restaurant in Falmouth. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lambert Elrod of “Stop & Tell Farm” in Shelbyville, KY; her 3 grandchildren: Glen Elrod of Palmer, Alaska , Rachael Elrod of Gainesville, Florida, Jacob Elrod of Shelbyville, KY; 7 great grandchildren: Candice Haley Elrod, Cheyenne Raelyn Elrod, Jacob “Thomas” Elrod, Jr., Matthew Allen Elrod, Johnathan Paul Henry Elrod, Adria Kinley Elrod, and Callen Gray Elrod; one sister, Betty Barnes of Paris, KY; her sister-in-law, Hazel Jacob of Butler, KY; “Her Girls”: Rita Swartz, Daelee Moreland, Beverly Askin, Beverly Bishop, Trish Bishop, Lisa Herron, Taylor Moore, Kellsy McIntosh, Debbie Moore Arnold, Cindy McIntosh; her buddy, Todd Ramsey; and a host of extended family and friends. The funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Falmouth Baptist Church, 403 Maple Avenue, Falmouth, KY 41040, with Bro. Cohen Copley officiating. The visitations will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, from 4-8:00 p.m. at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth and on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, from 12-1 pm preceding the service at her church. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to the Falmouth Baptist Church or Hospice of Hope: 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056.
