Margie Jane Adkins Hartzel

October 14, 1940 - May 10, 2022

Margie Jane Adkins Hartzel, 81, of Foster, KY, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Edgewood, KY. Born on October 14, 1940, in Whitley County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Dorothy Leach Adkins. On September 2, 1961, she married Ronald Albert Hartzel, and her dear husband of 38 years preceded her in death on August 20, 2000. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven Eric Hartzel on December 7, 2020, and her brother, Ray Arnold Adkins. At the center of Margie’s life were her faith and her family. She loved being a mother & grandmother, and her family and friends could always count on her love and support in every way, every day. She was a homemaker and formerly worked as a cafeteria manager with Cincinnati Milacron. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Margie was a member of the Grassy Creek Christian Church, DeMossville. Before moving to Pendleton County, she was a member at Eastern Hills Baptist Church and Clear Fork Baptist Church. She is survived by two children: Michael Wayne Hartzel and Melanie Lynn Hartzel, both of Foster, KY; her daughter-in-law, Michele Hartzel of Peach Grove, KY; three grandchildren: Tyler (Jennifer) Hartzel, Jacob (Amanda) Hartzel, and Evan (Bethany) Hartzel; three great grandchildren: Lane, Elsie, and Zoey Hartzel; her sister, Sherill Cooper and sister-in-law, Mina Adkins, both of Williamsburg, KY; many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly; and a host of extended family and friends. Locally the funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Grassy Creek Christian Church, 6884 Highway 17N, DeMossville, KY 41033, with Bro. Mike Flynn officiating. The visitation will be from 10-1 pm on Saturday preceding her service. On Sunday, May 15, 2022, there will be a visitation from 1-3 pm at Clear Fork Baptist Church in Williamsburg, KY followed by a service at 3 pm, and interment in Clear Fork Cemetery. Woodhead Funeral Home is taking care of the family. Memorials are suggested to Miracle Point Playground: c/o PCEF: P.O. Box 88, Falmouth, KY 41040.
