Eugene Ramsey

Eugene Ramsey July 31, 1936 - June 14, 2011 Eugene Ramsey, or “Uncle Pete”, as he was known to so many, 74, of Falmouth, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. Born in Bracken County, Kentucky on July 31, 1936, he was a son of the late Virgil and Nicey Teegarden Ramsey. On December 18, 1954 , he married Frances Meenach Ramsey, and his dear wife survives his passing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Dorothy (Dot) Clifford, Kathleen (Kitty) Barnard, Nancy (Nanny) Jenkins and Edna Lou Ramsey, and 2 brothers: Earl (Jr.) Ramsey and Harry C. Ramsey. He was a retired farmer who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had a special seat at the table that no one dared to get, and he used a coffee mug that was given to him 50 years ago by his dear friend Gladys Cummins. Daily he looked forward to talking with his special friend Allen Blevins about U.K. basketball. He was a member of the Oakland Christian Church, Pendleton County. In addition to his wife of 56 years, Frances Meenach Ramsey, he is survived by 5 children: Marcia (Pat) Mattingly of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Darwin (Brenda) Ramsey of Cecelia, Kentucky, Greg (Val) Ramsey and Candy (Joe) Ishmael, both of Falmouth, Kentucky, and Rhonda (Jeff) Greene of Butler, Kentucky ; 11 grandchildren: Julie Shartzer, Jeremy Linder, Derrick (Megan) Ramsey, Adam Ramsey, Amanda (Tom) King, Nathan (Ashley) Ramsey, Brandon (Ashley) Ramsey, Tyler Ramsey, Dirk (Lindsay) Bertram, Tamarah Caldwell, and Dillon Greene; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 2 brothers: Melvin “Mug” (Hazel) Ramsey and Raymond “P. John” (Clarletta) Ramsey; and his twin sister, Geraldine (Gerby) Cummins; two special friends: Genevieve Ammerman and Allen Blevins; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Gary Figgins officiating. Special music will be shared by Michael Cummins. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Linder, Nathan Ramsey, Brandon Ramsey, Tyler Ramsey, Derrick Ramsey, Adam Ramsey, Dirk Bertram, Dillon Greene, . The honorary pallbearers will be Julie Shartzer, Tamarah Caldwell, Jordan Shartzer, Patrick Shartzer, Amanda King and Ashley Linder. The visitation will be on Thursday, June 16, 2011, from 4-9:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to the House of Hope and Oakland Christian Church.
