Linda Huffman Tackett

Biography Linda Tackett, 82, of Butler, died on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at her home. She was born on May 15, 1932 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Virgil C. and Alla Manning Huffman. Linda had 3 siblings who preceded her in death, Dolores Coleman, Vernon C. Huffman and Ann Dusel. She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Tackett, Sr. They were married on June 6, 1952 and spent 62 years together. To this marriage four children were born – David Tackett, Beth Tuemler, Carol Caldwell and Charles L. Tackett, Jr. Linda also had four in-laws, Dixie Tackett, George Tuemler, Andrew Caldwell and Cindi Tackett. Linda was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren and spouses—Andrew Tackett, Erin and Joe Hermann, Joshua and Jodie Tackett, Miranda Murphy, Matthew and Erin Tuemler, Natalie and Nick Wolfe, Grant and Felicia Caldwell, Tanya Tackett, and Chelsea and Tim Butler. Eleven great grandchildren with two on the way made up Linda’s family—McKenzie McCoy, Reagan Tackett, Laci Tackett, Devon Turner, Lucy Hermann, Lily Hermann, Nora Tuemler, Boden Tuemler, Klaber Wolfe, Levi Wolfe, and Caseten Caldwell. Linda earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching from the University of Kentucky and her Master’s Degree and Rank I from Morehead State University. During her life, Linda provided help to many students in the Pendleton County School District. She began her teaching career at Butler Elementary School where she also sponsored the 7th and 8th grade cheerleading squad. She worked developing the Kentucky Junior Historical Society as well. Linda also taught at Pendleton Middle School and Pendleton High School where she sponsored the student council. She finished her education career working as an instructional supervisor at the central office. While providing services to the Pendleton County School System, Linda was also co-owner of the Ben Franklin Store ( V & S Hardware) in Falmouth. After retirement from the school system, Linda sold real estate through Century 21. She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Christian Church and the Pendleton County Retired Teachers Association. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Darrell Breeden officiating. Special music will be shared by Danny and Debby Sharp, Julie Utz, Marsha Meyers, Donna Thacker, and Darryl Ammerman. Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Tackett, Josh Tackett, Matthew Tuemler, Joe Hermann, Nick Wolfe, Grant Caldwell, and Tim Butler. The honorary pallbearers will be Jodie Tackett, Miranda Murphy, Erin Hermann, Erin Tuemler, Natalie Wolfe, Felicia Caldwell, Tanya Tackett, and Chelsea Butler. The visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to the Pendleton County Education Foundation or the Mt. Moriah Church Building Fund.
