Lois Lavon Askin Fields

Lois Lavon Askin Fields, 86, of Milford, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, surrounded by all of her loved ones. Born on July 17, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Finley and Blanche Kabler Askin. On June 26, 1954, she married Robert Wayne Fields, and her dear husband of 59 years preceded her in death on March 13, 2014. A graduate of Bracken County High School, she earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Kentucky. For many years, she worked with her late husband, a Regional Director with Olan Mills Photography, in Lexington and Louisville, later opening their own photography studio, Diamond Portraits, in Lexington. She was a member of Neave United Methodist Church, Bracken County. Lois was a gifted cook, baker, pianist, and seamstress. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling and discovering new places, with Alaska being one of her fondest memories. She loved UK basketball and eating at Red Lobster. Lois was the heart and soul of her family, and she devoted her life to caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always there for people in need; she opened her doors to family and non-family alike, providing warm meals and a loving home. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Wayne Fields in 2019. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sherry Fields (Hans) Acuff of Paris, KY; her son, Gregory Fields of Mt. Olivet, KY; her daughter-in-law, Dianne Boone Fields of Lexington, KY; 6 grandchildren: Krystin Fields of Myrtle Beach, SC, Robbie (Chelsea) Fields of Neave, KY, Lauren Fields (Joey) Daily of Charlotte, NC, Rylie Fields of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jhan (Anne) Acuff of Lexington, KY, and Dr. Alisha Acuff (Tyler) Dail of Asheville, NC; 4 great grandchildren: Lydia Lavon Fields, Alayna Kaye Fields, Robert Chandler Fields, and Rhys Bernard Acuff; her sister, Linda (Billy) Wagel of Brooksville, KY; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Milford Christian Church, 7089 Neave Milford Road, Brooksville, KY 41004, with Bro. Michael Cannon officiating. The visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Wednesday preceding the service at the church. Interment will take place in the Neave Cemetery, Bracken County. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital: 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, is caring for the family.
